F-431 GERMAN MERCHANT MARINE AFRIKA WRIST BAND - This is a very unique leather item that was hand made. All of the stitching on it is hand done, there is an outline of a merchant marine vessel, a palm tree, red swastika within a box and the word "AFRIKA". It measures from the end of the buckle to the end of the strap 9 1/4" X 1 5/8" and it has a small steel buckle. Extremely rare to encounter and Nazi Merchant Marine items. This one came from the estate of a WWII Army MP who was stationed in Africa during WWII, he had it in a shoe box along with lots of patches etc......$325 Photos F-333 SPIELE MAGAZIN BOXED GAMES - LUFTWAFFE - This appears to be a complete set with all 5 boards and many game pieces, two sets of wooden dice and what looks like the instruction book. On the front of the box there is a large Luftwaffe eagle, it also says in large blue lettering "Spiele Magazin". Across the bottom front in white letters "Halma * Dame * Muhle * Raus * Schach", and extremely small numbers in the front lower corner "1148". This box does show some wear to the outside corners and a little on the cover. All the pieces is this set up are made of wood, the game pieces consist of the following: 6 white checkers, 6 black checkers, 17 purple pieces, 21 blue pieces, 21 red, 21 green, 34 yellow, 17 black, 4 wooden dice and a complete set of chess pieces. Game pieces are in good condition and the box measures 11 1/2 X 11 1/2" by appx. 1 5/8"........$175 Photo M-125 GERMAN WWII ARMY AWARD PLAQUE CENTER - It is round and measures around 2" across, it is made of a stamped metal, the reverse still has the four prongs attached and they are all in very good condition. There is a helmeted WWII German solider on it and you can clearly see a very detailed Army decal on the side of it, there are also some oak leaves on it. The silver finish on it is in good condition and it has kind of an aluminum look to it. I have looked for manufacture marks but was unable to locate any, this piece was made to mount to a plaque and its condition is very nice.......$145 Photos M-127 ITALIAN FASCIST (YOUTH?) TINNIE - Pretty nice tinnie that has a red/white/green kokarden with an eagle headed handled dagger horizontally across it, below the kokarden on a scroll it says GIOVENTU del LITTORIO". At the edge of the front upper 12:00-01:00 position there is a small piece that has broken off and on the reverse at the top it is deteriorating a little bit, other than that it is in good condition. The reverse has a good pin/catch assembly and is maker marked "ZELINDA GAGGI" above the pin and "VIA-XX-SETTEMBRE 115, ROMA" below it. In large lettering on the blade of the dagger it says "VINCRE", the handle of the dagger looks like it is a brownish/reddish color. From what I can come up with researching this one it may have been for a youth organization of some sort, I think it says something like "To win gioventu of the Fascist one"..................$55 Photos M-128 1768 RUSSIAN COIN - This coin is made of copper and weighs 2 ounces, it measures around 1 5/8" across and around 1/8" thick. These coins are associated with Catherine II The Great, it is mint marked "E M". There is some greenish tarnish on one side where the first part of the date is, other than that it's condition is good.........$35 Photos M-129 EARLY LUFTWAFFE EAGLE DIE - It is made of brass and is 1/4" thick and has a wing span of around 4", the workmanship is quite good. I am really not sure if it was ever finished or if this is the way it is suppose to be. Has a early drooped tailed Luftwaffe eagle, it is done in reverse so it was intended to be used in some sort of a printing process as once it was inked and printed the swastika and eagle would be facing the correct way. Any information on this one would be greatly appreciated..........$165 Photos M-130 DR. ANTON von WEHNER MEDALLION - This metal medallion measures around 2 7/8" across and 1/8" thick, the finish on it is in very good condition. One side has "DR ANTON VON WEHNER" in very large raised lettering and below that towards the bottom is a small "D" with a long line going from it. The other side has an old style boat with a single sail, has six shields on it which are numbered from 1 to 6 on the front of them, the first one has what looks like "REF" over the number "1" and there is also a period after the number "1", none of the other's have that. There are long oars sticking out of the side like they are in use. There is a figure on the back steering with the rudder handle, there are many arrows in the sky shooting from right to left, at the bottom front there is a very small key which looks like it is under the water. Across the front it says "INIQVITATE TEMPEZTATV NVNQV SVBMERSA". I have gone though all the language translators that I could find and can not find one that will translate it......$175 Photos I have received an email with the following information on this item:
"I noticed on your website the medal of Dr.
Anton von Wehner. I am an historian and a lover of Latin and iconography
and thus was intrigued by it and found some details on this man. He lived
from 1850 to 1915 and at the end of his life was the Bavarian minister of
church affairs and education. The text on this medal is in Latin but the
spelling seems not to be common classical Latin. That may explain why a
web-translator didn't help you out on that matter...this text and it's
context seems medieval to me rather than roman as the depicted ship looks
more medieval rather than roman or Viking. Maybe the text is a quote but I
couldn't find any source for it. The text on the medal says:Iniquitate
tempestatu nunqu submersa, The reversed S in tempestatu is
not uncommon in post classical Latin inscriptions, nor the N in stead of M
in Numquam or the abbreviation of the word endings. So the
"corrected" text would read:"iniquitate tempestatum nunquam submersa (est)"
meaning: "she (the ship of state, the church?) has never been
submerged in the turbulence of the weathers (or: "times")
The female is implied because of the
ending on -A of submersa.
However, submersa can also be used here as a
plural of a neuter participle:
niquitate tempestatu(m) numqu(am) submersa (sunt),
and then the translation is: "things have never been submerged in
turbulent weathers/times (it is
common in Latin to leave out declensions like est and sunt
of the verb "esse" (" to be") in mottoes in order to be concise.)
Anyway, this all gives an idea in which direction the translation should
go. This text could be a personal motto of von Wehner, or may be an ex
libris stamp or referring to some part of his carrier or personal life.
i don't know. That information would be the key for a more detailed
translation of it. I cannot explain the numbers on the shields but they
could refer to school grades in the German education system, as von
Wehner reformed certain parts of the Bavarian/German educational system.
F-168 MONOCLE LENS LEATHER COVER - This is a small brown leather cover that has the manufactures information embossed on one side. Some of the stitching has come loose on one side of it. There is no eye piece with it......$5 Photo F-401 CIGARETTE CASE WITH LIGHTER SWASTIKA MARKED - I believe that this case with lighter appears to be made of stainless steel. Has a top portion that has the lighter, one side of it has a swastika engraved on it with a little swirl line on each side of it. Push the lighter to the side and the cigarette case opens up, both sides still retain the elastic bands for holding the cigarettes in. I do not see any manufacture marking son it, over condition is very good and the striker snaps open strongly.......$115 Photos F-327 LIGHTERS - This brass lighter is in very good condition but it does have a small piece of metal jammed under the striker so the striker does not turn, other that that it is in great condition. From what I was told it was picked up on the battlefield in WWII. The second lighter is made of a tin material. On the very top of one of the ends it sis stamped "Japan", looks like only part of it took, probably should read "made in Japan". This lighter looks to be pretty old and well used, measures 2 5/8" long. I have listed these two together because they came in the same batch of stuff from a Veterans family...........$35 Photos F-329 OLD SMALL POCKET WATCH WITH CASE - This pocket watch measures around 1 ¼” across and has a good class lens, the face on it is in very good condition with Roman Numerals, both hour and minute hands are present. I can not find any manufacture identification on it. Tried to wind it but it will not move, I could not get the hands to more either. Between the numbers are small dots which look like gold. Tried to get the back to open but I could not get it to open. Has a small shied on the reverse. Comes with a small case with a clear lens cover, this case appears to be made of steel as it is rusting a bit. There is some cloth material around the lens interior edge, the inside back has a cloth material in it......$35 Photos F-330 OLD POCKET WATCH COVER - This is a cover for a pocket watch and it has a discolored plastic lens on it. Hinge works good, there are the remains of some cloth material along the inner edge around the plastic lens. On the interior of the rear there appears to be a padding of hair of some sort. The rear has a little denting to it and has some green spotting, probably would clean up nicely. It measures around 2 1/8" across......$15 Photos F-385 DESK CLOCK This one is in a wooden box which has a large N.S.D.A.P. eagle stenciled on its lid. Clock says "Linden, Blackforest" on the upper part of its face. Lower down it says "Alarm" and below that at the very bottom "Made in Germany". It also says "Made in Germany" on its reverse. This is a post war manufactured clock for the tourist trade after the war. I wound it a couple of times but it did not start running.......$35 Photos F-420 NAZI MARKED POCKET STOP WATCH - I am not sure what this one was used for as it has two sets of numbers with hands on them. The large hand has two sizes of numbers on it, the larger ones go in increments of 5, with the smaller numbers between them. The small hand goes to 15. This watch works and has the ring at the top for hanging. The reverse of this watch has an early stylized eagle with swastika, above the eagle it says "Kr.", on one side of the swastika is "M" and on the other side of it is "A". I am guessing here by saying that I think it may be for use by a Kriegsmarine Artillery Battery. Overall condition is good......$1,350 Photos F-421 POCKET WATCH “WALTHAM” – This pocket watch measures around 2 ¼” across and is quite heavy. The top of the winder looks like it is made of brass while the body is made of either silver or stainless steel, I see no silver content markings on it. Has the minute and second hands, have turned the winder but nothing happens except for a clicking sound, looks like it needs some repair work. There is a small nick on the front about where the “11” is, glass face is in super condition with no cracks or chips. The glass face is a bit raised up from the watch body. The reverse has some very small slight scratches in the very center, looks like it may have had a price sticker that someone may have removed with a sponge scratch pad. I ship by United States Postal Service with insurance and do not charge anything extra for shipping and handling etc. All payments made with a Certified Bank Check, Money Order or Cash will be mailed off the same day it is received, personal checks will have a 14 working day wait (about 3 weeks) on them before your item will be shipped. There are some surface scratching on both sides, I do not have a record player so I can not tell if it skips or not……$45 Photos USA-228 HAND EMBROIDERED ARMY EMBLEM 1973 - This is a wonderful piece of American Military home front art from the Vietnam War era. It is framed and measures 13” across, woven cotton cloth material backing that has the American Army Eagle hand embroidered on it with many different colors. Eagle has the shield on its chest and an olive branch clutched in a talon and a bundle of arrows clutched in the other talon. There is a ribbon in his beak with writing on it and a starburst above the eagle. It is mounted in a round gold colored frame which has paper backing, on the back written in pencil is “from Manceil 1973........$65 Photo USA-245 EUROPE ROAD MAP SERIES "FRANCE" FIRST EDITION - This map is complete and folds out, it is in used condition and does have a bit of damage to the cover, the map itself is in good condition. The cover says “Europe Road map Series 1:1,000,000 A.M.S. 6303, First Edition – AMS 1”, there is additional writing on it so you might want to look at the photograph provided. Folded this map packed measures around 5 ¼” X 11”, it unfolds into a much larger size and the map itself is in color.....$15 Photos USA-217 SPOKEN JAPANESE BOOK - This book was made by the United States Armed Forces for use by service personnel, it is copywrited 1945. There are 352 pages and also 4 pages of loose printed material with some hand written notes on them. "The purpose of this course is to give you a general introduction to the Japanese language. It contains all the essential grammar for learning to speak everyday Japanese; and its vocabulary, though small, is built around a number of the most useful and common situations. The course is based on the principle that if you want to learn to understand a language, you must hear it spoken, and if you want to learn to use it yourself, you must practice speaking it. The students for whom this book is written will often have no teacher available. Accordingly, the course has been made as nearly self teaching ass possible. This Manual covers the course completely; you will need no other reference material." It is in good condition........$40 Photos F-405 MEDICINE GLASS WITH ROUND WOODEN CASE – This is a measuring glass that comes with a round wooden case with lid, the wood is in excellent condition. The measuring glass has only a little bit of its gold finish gone from the lip. It has a table on it that measures in ounces while the other side has “1 Wine Glass” and “numbers with “TEA”. This set up is marked with “Woodare, Clarke & Co. Chemists, Wood-Lark Bldg, Alder St. at West Park, Portland, Ore.” There is a piece of paper in the case that has a handwritten note which says “Medicine glass or jigger at least 100 years old”........$25 Photo USA-233 GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION 1939 ARMY LETTER OPENER – This is a nice heavy metal opener which has the US Army emblem on one side and the golden gate bridge etc. on the other with the date “1939”. Still retains porbably a strong 80% of its gold finish. Truly a unique item in good condition……$35 Photos M-755 ROMANIAN FIGHT AGAINST COMMUNISM MEDAL - Has a very nice ribbon with it with the metal clip on the reverse that keeps it all together. Once side has the cross with the hand holding a sword with 1941 on it. Has writing along the edge of it, reverse has a woman's head with writing. Condition on it is very good......$105 Photos M-25 U.S.S.R. (SOVIET) VISOR HAT EMBLEM - very good emblem with two brass prongs on the back ......$10 M-014 ARMY STANDORT PLAQUE - This one does not look like it was ever used. Has the Nazi battle flag at the top, below that it says "Standort - Segel - Wettfahrten, Ehrenpreis". Below all of that is an Army eagle, this is a die struck piece. Must have had a price tag on the front of it at one time as there is a little bit of what looks like glue on it. The reverse is a mirror image of the front and has some remains of glue and a small glue pad of some kind, must have been in a case, measures about 2 3/4" tall by 2 1/2" across........$185 Photos M-895 BRONZE PLAQUE - Not sure what this one is for, has two small holes in it which were used to attach it to something, it is heavy and appears to be made of bronze. Has an eagle on it with the swastika below it with two hand shaking across the eagle. Looks like a large letter "V" on one side and a large letter "S" on the other, also has some oak leaves on it. Very bottom of the reverse in small letters is the manufactures marking "F.M.K.", this one measures about 2 3/8" tall by 2 1/4" across and its condition is very good.......$185 Photos M-919 WOMAN'S METAL BUST WITH DRAGON – OLD - This bust is very nice and has a silver finish on it, it is made of a light weight metal material. She is wearing a helmet on her head with a small dragon on the top of it, just behind the dragon is a hole that may have been used for a plume of some sort. One side of the helmet has a naked man with a horse and the other has a woman with a spear and a horse. She is wearing some body armor and there is a lions head on the very front of it. This bust is a cast piece and is hollow on the interior. I am assuming that this is the bust of a woman because of the feminine features, measures around 5 ½” across and is around 6 ¾” tall........$125 Photos M-120 1925 SPANISH PATRIOTIC MEDAL – Rare medal that is complete with its hanging ribbon and it has a good pin on its back. This medal was dedicated by City Council as homage to the Spanish King and Queen. On the front it has the side portraits of the King and Queen the writing going around them, it says “HOMENAJE DE LOS AYUNTAMIENTOS DE LOS REYES 25 Enero 1925”, had it translated and it says something like “You give the city hall homage to the Kings, 23 January 1925”. The reverse has a man standing with a shovel and has the words “TODOS y TODO POR LA PATRIA” which translated to "All and all by the country”. The yellow and red ribbon is attached to the medal by a hanging ring, this medal is two pieced with a movable Imperial crown at the top which the hanging ring is attached to. Overall condition of this rare medal is very good, I have looked all over it and can find no manufacture markings on it……..$60 Photos M-719 UNKNOWN MEDAL - ARTS? - Very impressive medal that is appx. 1 3/4" X 2 1/2", it has a hanging ring at the top of it. I am told that these were made "Mardi Gras" pieces, towns would make them for participants in their yearly pre-lent celebrations. Has an Imperial crown at the top sitting on a Maltese cross, cross has four different colors to its arms; blue, white, yellow and red. There is a wreath of leaves that the cross sits over and on the center is a white enameled disk with what looks like a clowns hat on it. This medal is very well constructed and all colored areas are enameled, it is in great condition........$45 Photos M-420 KRONBORG MEMORABILIA PIECE - this is made out of brass, the top part has a castle with 'Krongorg' written on a scroll under it.
